Beechgrove Garden Projects
Baywalk Project
Stonehaven should be proud of the hard work put in by volunteers from The Horizon Project and Friends of the Open Air Pool when BBC Scotland were in town to film two landscaping projects.
The picture on the left above shows some of the volunteers and BBC Beechgrove Garden presenters Jim McColl and Carole Baxter on the Water Yett area of the beach which has been transformed into a baywalk garden. The project involved dropping giant boulders in place, erecting decking and seating and planting indigenous plants.
Filming started on Wednesday 27th July 2005 at the Baywalk and the picture shows some of the volunteers working under the guidance of a qualified carpenter.Horizon Project member Allan Cairnduff said 'There was a lot more work than first thought but all the volunteers had done a marvellous job'.
Open Air Pool Project
The Friends of the Open Air Pool constructed two planters at either side of the Art Deco Pool and Chairperson, Mary Mitchell, pictured on right at top of page was absolutely delighted with the help and support she received and very proud of the final result. The area at the front of the Pool building has been greatly enhanced.
The BBC team were assisted by Garden Designer, Kirsty McLean.
