![]() Stonehaven Business Association held another successful Networking evening at the headquarters of the Maritime Rescue Institute (MRI) on Monday 6th September 2004. Members and guests were given a presentation by Director Ann Laing which provided a fascinating insight into the workings of the MRI. All those who attended were proud that such internationally recognised expertise was right on our doorstep.
The more adventurous were treated to a short boat trip to just beyond Dunnottar Castle. They were able to enjoy the fine views of the coastline and hear some interesting stories.
The photographs show some of those enjoying the first boat trip provided by Ian Watson and a view of Dunnottar castle and one of the many caves along the coast. Fortunately the weather stayed dry and the sea was relatively calm. A first class buffet was provided by the owners of the Carron Restaurant and background music was provided by classical guitarist Rob Ward. Vice chairman, Allan Smith gave a vote of thanks to directors, Hamish McDonald and Ann Laing and all their helpers for an excellent evening. Members who were unable to attend certainly missed out but it is hoped that this event may be repeated in the Spring. Being a Charity the MRI rely on fund raising and they are developing some innovative ways to raise money. If you like to shop at major stores like Marks & Spencer, Comet, Oddbins etc you can do so online by clicking here. MRI will receive a donation for each item purchased.
