Stonehaven Feein Market 2003

Saturday 7th June brought fine weather to Stonehaven, where thousands of people flocked to the Market Square and helped to raise over £35,000
for Local Charities and Organisations.


Stonehaven's Lions Club, the organisers were delighted with the generosity of those who attended.
The Market Convener was Mr George Reid and the Event was officially opened at 10am by actress Joyce Falconer, best known for her role as Roisin McIntyre in the BBC soap, River City.




After a stirring entrance from Stonehaven Pipe Band, she performed a parody of the well known North East song The Barnyards of Delgaty and soon got the crowd joining in the chorus.




A surprise visitor to the Market this year, was Santa Claus and his assistant who were trying to raise funds for Christmas Lights in the Market Square.
Business Association member, Eric Innes and Business Support Officer Jacqui Christie who manned the stand helped to raise a few hundred pounds towards the Campaign to make the Market Square brighter this Christmas.


Entertainment was provided throughout the day and Steve Peacock did an excellent job as Compere.


As well as fine performances from the local Pipe Band,The Lindsay School of Dancing put on a great show as did the Bon Accord Silver Band
and three groups from Mackie Academy.

The Lions Club also presented Mackie Academy with £7000 worth of computers.




Stonehaven Folk Club had a smashing time, as people were allowed to smash plates Greek style in return for donations.





Cowie Action Group, led by Jane Davidson, took advantage of a stand in the Town Hall, to drum up support for their campaign to stop Scottish Water including a screening plant in the sewage pumping station which is to be built in Cowie.

This years Best Dressed Stall Prize was awarded to Friends of Stonehaven Open Air Pool.
